AMC Examinations

In order to register as a medical doctor to practice practice in Australia an International medical graduate (IMG) whose medical qualifications is from a medical institution outside of Australia or New Zealand, must provide evidence of eligibility to undertake one of the following assessment pathways:

  • Competent Authority Pathway
  • Standard Pathway

There is also a Specialist Pathway for those IMGs who are Specialist in their fired of practice.

Canadian IMGs who have their LMCCs are usually eligible for Competent Authority Pathway.

In Standard Pathway once should take AMC-MCQ and sometimes AMC-Clinical Examinations, from which IMGs with LMCC are exempt.

In either pathways, IMG should take a PESCI exam in order to be able to start practicing
