OSCE Exams: USMLE Step 2 CS
USMLE Step 2 CS (Clinical Skills) is an examination for medical students/graduates who wish to become licensed physician in the U.S.
IMGs can take USMLE exams in any order they feel comfortable. While some suggest taking USMLE Step 1 before other USMLE step 2 exams, most IMGs in Canada planning to take NAC-OSCE or MCCQE-2 would rather to go for USMLE Step 2 CS first.
Like all other OSCE based exams the USMLE Step 2CS exam consists of a series of patient encounters in which the examinee must take a history, do a physical examination, determine differential diagnoses, and then write a patient note based on their determinations.
The scope of exams and topics are almost the same as that of NAC-OSCE covering common outpatient or Emergency Room visits encountered in the fields of internal medicine, surgery, psychiatry, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology. Usually, examinees have one telephone encounter, speaking through a microphone.
